All good points, Leila. I keep hoping for the great tea movement in the states, but am not a fan of where the trend is pushing - more corporate as it goes along. I see tea drinking as a simple and somewhat intimate thing, which is contrary to so much of this racket. Thanks for posting your thoughts!

Well, I learned at the World Tea XPO that our buddies at Coke bought Honest Tea so they have lots of cash to put toward promotions. Also, cold bottled tea is the fasting growing segment in the tea market in the States. With the Tevana IPO and other biggies in the market I hope the small peeps who are currently leading the industry for high quality tea aren't squeezed out.

You do have some questions!

Should you believe anything on the packages? Sure, there's some stuff you can believe. Sleepytime is an herbal blend, with no actual tea leaves in it. It has chamomile, which makes most people sleepy - so yeah, it's good to drink if you don't want to get jacked up on caffeine before heading to bed. I'm currently drinking all kinds of Mothering teas to help me out with motherly stuff - some of this herbal stuff does work.

But I wouldn't subscribe to all claims. Nine times out of ten if it seems kind of crazy it probably is.

How to spice up the morning tea? I'd check out loose, if you're not drinking it already. I've been drinking loose tea for years now, and every time I try to sip Lipton it leaves me flat and sad. I've done many taste comparisons, and a good loose tea never fails. Full disclosure: I once worked for these guys - but I believe if you want to learn about loose tea and try it in an affordable and fun way, Adagio Teas is a fantastic vendor and a good place to start (http://www.adagio.com).

I have some questions about tea. When I go to the grocery store there is like an entire 8x6 block of different teas. Being american, i tend to lean towards the old standard of lipton packets. But I do see all these various 'types' 'flavors' 'times' (sleepytime?). Should i believe anything on these packages? How can I spice up my morning tea? Should I be looking at loose tea more? Have you ever compared the two or more types to make/ingest tea (cold/hot)?
